Estuve en clases con Luis Poirot y Fernanda Larraín, donde volví a experimentar con la fotografía análoga y , sobre todo, conocer a través de libros y documentales a los grandes fotógrafos. Por supuesto, nos infundieron el amor por la fotografía antigua y las primeras técnicas fotográficas. Me entusiasmé y, sin saber dónde me estaba metiendo, me compré una cámara Pearson & Denham del año aprox 1850, por ebay, más que nada porque la encontré una belleza. Después de harto trámite, porque al final traerla fue más caro que la misma cámara, nos encontramos frente a frente. En el intertanto empecé a entender que ya casi es imposible conseguir películas para ella. Pero sí averigüé que en Inglaterra, una vez al año fabrican un reducido stock de este formato de película. En fin, después de mucho, conseguí algunas. Tuve que mandar a hacer una pieza especial para poder adpatarla a mi trípode. Y me puse a experimentar. Un amigo fotógrafo se reía de mí y me decIa que la cámara sólo serviría de adorno. Pero eso me animó más aún a probar que yo podría. Experimenté en mi casa, en la playa, en el campo. Después las mandé a revelar con un caballero antiguo. (Yo sólo había revelado 35mm) y logré tener mis primeros negativos. Si bien las imágenes se revientan en algunas zonas, debido a la imperfección de los portaplacas, logré algunos éxitos. Aquí les muestro parte de mi recorrido. I attended Luis Poirot and Fernanda Larraín photography workshop where we travelled through the history of photography and also were immersed in the darkroom process. Of course their devotion to the first photographers was contagious and I began looking for and old camera for me. Found one in ebay, a Pearson & Denham from the 1850´s and bought it cause it was sooo beautiful! The thing is that after ordering it I realized there weren´t any films for that format any more, only found them in some place in England where they make just a limited amount once a year. I had to make an adapter for my tripod. A photographer friend laughed and said that my new old camera will only work as a decoration piece in my home. But after experimenting a couple of times I obtained some achievements. I did some photos on the beach, landscapes and at home. Though not perfect I obtained some negatives (developed by an old man). Images are not the neatest as the plate holders are imperfect, but even in spite of the problems I felt a great satisfaction. This will be continued…
